Happy 5th Birthday Maia

On May 18th, Maia celebrated her 5th birthday. It's incredibly hard to believe that it's been 5 years since this child came into our lives and changed it in ways we never thought possible. We have our moments, like every mother and daughter for sure. But there isn't a day that goes by that she doesn't bring a smile to my face and make me laugh. Or that she doesn't teach me so much about my relationship with my Heavenly Father.
It would take days to list all the many things that I love about her. But in honor of her 5th birthday, I thought about five of my favorite things right now.
I do love you sweet Maia and feel so blessed that Almighty God chose me to be your momma. Thank you for bringing so much joy into my life.


1. I love that she tapes together a rock and a piece of sidewalk chalk and calls it a sculpture.
2. I love that if I randomly begin singing a song from Air 1, she chimes in and sings every word right along with me.
3. I love that she refers to her little sister as "my baby."
4. I love that she is so inquisitive and is constantly asking me questions about why I'm doing what I'm doing. Yes it can get tiresome, but I still love it!
5. I love that she sings her prayers.

Garden Party

This year, Maia decided she wanted a garden party. So we decided to let the kids do some gardening with colorful flowering plants. They all had fun and really liked getting to get their hands dirty!

Preschool Graduation

It seems like only yesterday Maia first began Preschool at First Presbyterian. She was there two years and we had a great experience there. We're sure going to miss it and hopefully little Josie can follow in her big sister's footsteps in a couple years.



Bless her! Poor thing was so nervous as she walked down, with everyone looking at her.

Added bonus

Obviously, the Houston Reed's came up for the big graduation. So we got a quick visit and lots of hugs and kisses with two of our favorite nieces.

The two J's. The grown-ups kept joking all weekend, that Josie will be glad when Jillian is old enough to play with her, because the two big girls kept leaving them out!

Graduation Grammie

One of the best qualities you can attribute to Susan Reed, is she always puts others before herself. For years, she allowed the three most important men in her life to work and achieve their goals, while supporting them setting her's aside. She's always wanted to go back to college and get her degree. But she put her desires on hold, and over the last 20 or so years, watched as her husband and sons completed 5 college degrees between the three of them. Well she finally was able to see that dream come true on May 9th, as she walked the stage and received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. We love sweet Grammie and are so very proud of you! Congratulations on your huge accomplishment!

Cowboy Choir

Towards the end of the preschool choir year, all the church kiddos got to meet Cowboy Roger and his horse. Some of the kids were scared and didn't want to ride. Not Maia! She's was chomping at the bit waiting for her turn to ride. And I know I'm biased, but she was definitely the cutest little cowgirl out there!

Dancing Queen

This past school year, Maia began tap and ballet class. The first weekend in May she got to strut her stuff and show us what she's learned. Needless to say, she may have inherited both of her parents poor-coordination gene. She had two stumbles (one in each performance) during the show. But she had a blast and even though she was not the picture of grace, when the show was over, Rob told her what a good job she did. Her response... "I know."

It has been entirely TOO long since our last post. The last two months have been C-R-A-Z-Y ones for this Reed family and I've barely been online to check my email, much less keep up with our site. But fear not faithful ones, I will get back to posting new pics very soon, and may also have a few surprises in store! Check back soon...
