Maia's Great Dad

This is one of the gifts Maia gave to her daddy when her school had Donuts with Dad. It was too cute not to share. And the title of the book is right...Maia really does have a great dad!















































So just to add a bit of clarification on some of Maia's statements about her dad:

"My daddy is 24 years old." HAAAAAA. Neither of us have seen that number in several years!
"He likes to wear work clothes." So much evidently that he even likes sleeping in them...on the sofa.
"His favorite household chore is sweeping." I can assure you, he has no favorite chore.
"His favorite TV show is Monsters vs. Aliens." No, that would be Maia's favorite show.
"When my dad shops, he likes to buy me toys." That's true. Rob loves to shop for his girls.
"If he could go on a trip, he would go to Houston and he would take me." We do love us some Houston, TX; but it's Maia who asks me literally every other day if we can go to Houston to see her cousin Lauren.
"He's the best! I love you Dad!" Both statements 100% true!!!


Thank you, sweet Robert, for being such a truly great dad to our precious girls. I love you dearly!

Donuts with Dad

Maia's class did a special thing where all the daddy's came up and ate donuts with their kiddos. Rob didn't get any pics of the actual event, but I took these before they raced out the door. In case you can't tell, Maia has developed a condition that makes her physically incapable of looking at the camera when someone is taking her picture. Doctors are still searching for a cure.

Gardening Girls

After years of intending to plant a garden, we finally were able to get it done. Robert built a couple of raised beds, surrounded them with pea gravel, and then we started digging. Maia LOVES digging in the dirt. And she's beginning to enjoy watching the things we plant take root and grow. It's turning out to be a great way to teach her patience. We are really looking forward to eating fresh veggies and herbs...in 2 or 3 months! :)


Josie mostly just dug in the gravel and kept saying "cheeeeeese" when I would grab the camera.





The finished product-- well beginning stages of the finished product. We planted tomatoes, peppers, zuchinni and yellow squash, onions, pumpkins, parsley, cilantro, basil, sage, strawberries, and seeds of corn, green beans, cucumber and okra. We plan on starting our own farmer's market in the future. (kidding!)

A Blessed Easter

What an honor it is as a parent, to teach my children about the love of Christ. And especially at Easter, the depth of His love is at the center of our thoughts. This year more than ever, I was able to share with Maia about how Christ suffered and died and rose from the dead, because of His great love for us...my sweetest moment so far, in this journey of motherhood.
As long as I'm on this earth, I know I'll never comprehend how Christ could look on my sin and guilt, and tell me I'm forgiven. But He did, and I'm thankful. Nothing in my life brings me more joy than serving my risen Savior.

Let the hunting of the eggs begin!

Well the girls had a blast hunting what seemed like 500 eggs in our front yard. Last year, Josie couldn't walk yet, so this was her first year to be able to hunt for herself. She actually did a really good job and we didn't have to point very many out to her.

Needless to say, we're still working on sitting "lady-like"

Pretty Little Princesses

Maia and Josie got to go to their sweet friend, Corinne's, Princess birthday party. Josie was along for the ride, but Maia was absolutely beside herself with excitement. I had to occasionally remind her that it was not her day, but Corinne's. They had a blast and looked super sweet too.

This video was taken when we were in Ruidoso. Josie seems to have an affinity for dips and the like. Can't say I blame her. Most people, don't normally eat them quite like this. But to each their own, right?

Another Maia-ism

Well, it's been a while since I've posted any of Maia's quotable quotes. But this one was just to great to pass up. So here is the set-up to this conversation.
Maia and I have been having several conversations about sin and sort of defining what sin is. This is all at her prompting, by the way. Anyway, she's asking a lot of questions about specific situations, wanting to know what is and isn't sin. Needless to say, she's still a little confused. She is 4 after all.
So, the other night, I'm cleaning off our coffee table and she is interfering with the process. I tell her to stop and she doesn't. Here is the conversation:

Mar: "Maia, I told you to stop. When you don't do what I tell you to do, you're being disobedient. Being disobedient is a sin."

Maia: "Oh, sorry. I forgot not to sin."


Well, if that doesn't describe the mindset of all of humanity, I'm not sure what does. I sure do love this little girl, and love that she is already so inquisitive about God and His ways. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving me this precious child. I pray I will bring glory to You as I attempt to raise her in a holy fashion, while living in an unholy world.

Finally...SNOW!!!

Well after being teased all winter, we finally got some substantial snowfall. Maia was soooooo excited. She froze until her little heart was content. Josie, I think really wanted to like it. But really spent most of the time struggling to walk in it.

New Friend

Maia and I built this snowman or snowwoman, never too sure. But we sure had fun! Maia is a natural born snowman builder. Too bad she only gets the opportunity once every six years.
